New England Photos

Winter in New England is a magical and often challenging time of the year, when heavy snow and extreme weather are the norm. The smell of wood smoke fills the air, and snow on the evergreens and mountain tops brings an ethereal beauty to the landscape. Sunrise photos are rich in reds and blues at this time of year. New England countrysides are transformed into a Currier and Ives painting. This area of the United States is famous for its many winter activities, but my personal favorite is the opportunity to photograph the countryside blanketed in deep, fluffy snow. This past January, the temperature remained well below zero for the entire month. The crystal clear mornings, with the temperatures hovering close to –20 degrees, combined to produce absolutely spectacular sunrises. These are some of my favorite New England photos of 2004.
