This immature Bald Eagle was observed on the Connecticut River, perched above a flock of mallard ducks. He did make a few passes to attempt to snatch one for his next meal, but he was unsuccessful. Based on his grey beak and brown eyes, he is most probably a 2005 fledgling who has remained in the area. Generally , the immatures will migrate and not remain to compete with the mature eagles. You can see the whilte plummage slowly developing.
