I love this picture as it illustrates something that I see every year.  Loon chicks are so similar to human babies in how they play.  I often see the hatchlings playfully tug at the adult loons feathers as they ride along  on the pond.  They will also nip and poke at each other, which could be simple play or early signs of attempts to dominate.
